Best friend blanket

El pasado mes de febrero en este post os contaba que estaba haciendo una manta a medias con mi mejor amiga. Me autoplagio para contaros en qué consiste:
- "Estamos haciendo una manta para cada una pero entre las dos, es decir: yo hago la mitad de los cuadrados de cada manta (haciendo dos cuadrados de cada combinación de colores) y ella hace lo mismo. Cada una hace un diseño distinto de cuadrado. Cuando nos veamos de nuevo (vivimos lejos :( ) nos intercambiaremos los cuadraditos y los uniremos. Al final cada una tendrá una manta hecha entre las dos. No sé explicarlo muy bien así por escrito, espero que pilléis la idea más o menos."
Bueno, pues al final terminamos todos los cuadrados y nos los intercambiamos, allá por julio por fin comencé a unir los cuadrados. Por supuesto cuando iba por la mitad me quedé sin lana y tardé como mes y medio en conseguir más, pero por fin a finales del pasado mes de octubre la terminé (mi amiga aún está ello, está bastante más ocupada que yo... pero seguro que cuando la termine estará preciosa).

- We are making two blankets together (one for each of us): I make half the squares for both of us (two of each color combination) and so does she but with a different pattern. It's not easy to explain in writing, I hope you'll manage to get the idea. We are using the same yarn, so now I have all these grannies (x2) and as soon as we meet again (we live apart :( ) we can exchange our squares and begin to join them. In the end we'll have similar blankets made by both of us.
We did finish all the squares and exchanged them, mid July I started joining them but, as it usually happens, I just run out of yarn when I was half way though; it took my about a month an a half to get more yarn but finally by the end of October I finished my blanket (my friend's still working on it since she's much busier than me, but it'll look gorgeous at the end too for sure).
Os cuento un poco. Los dos modelos de cuadradito son por un lado el granny square de toda la vida y por otro un granny con centro de margarita o redondo, el patrón lo sacamos de aquí. Y la lana que usamos fue la Merino Classic de Katia y el ganchillo de 4.00mm aunque creo que para esta lana es mejor un 5.00 para que quede más sueltita y blandita al final la manta.

We used Katia Merino Classic yarn and a 4.00mm hook although I recommend a larger hook for this yarn after working with it, a 5.00mm would be nice.

Teníamos siete colores para los cuadrados y los hicimos de forma que al final tuviéramos el mismo número de cuadrados de cada color en la fila exterior, 20 de cada (20 con el exterior azul, 20 con el exterior amarillo, etc.); es decir 140 cuadrados distintos de cada diseño (140 grannies y 140 margaritas) cada una. Por lo tanto cada manta tiene en total 280 cuadrados que repartimos en 20 filas de 14 cuadrados cada una.
Yo los repartí alternando un granny con una margarita y colocando los colores también de forma alterna, cada fila tenía un granny y una margarita de cada color (siempre tomando el color exterior como referencia) en la misma secuencia. Sería algo así (dónde G es un granny y F una margarita/flor:

Para unir los cuadrados usé un tono beige de la misma lana (Katia Merino Classic) y la técnica de unir seguido de manera continua (continuous join as you go) de Baby Love Brand, es la primera vez que usaba esta técnia y sin duda no será la última, el no tener que rematar nada y ver como va creciendo la manta sin tener que detenerte en cada cuadro me ganó completamente.
To join the squares I used a beige colour from the same yarn (Katia Merino Classic) and used the continuous join as you go technique by Baby Love Brand, it was the first time I used it and I'll definitely will use it again, I love not having to weave any ends but two and been able to keep working and seeing how the blanket grows.

Una vez unidos los 280 cuadrados hice una fila más de borde del mismo color de unión y luego una fila de punto granny de cada color de los cuadrados, para acabar usé el mismo tono de unión y el borde en doble V de Bunny Mummy.
