Randomness: of crochet mood blankets, bunting, other blankets and stuff

A principios de año decidí unirme al proyecto de la Crochet Mood Blanket 2014 que Stacey comenzó en Instagram. Seguro que ya habéis oído hablar de ello, pero básicamente consiste en hacer un cuadradito (granny square) de ganchillo al día eligiendo los colores de acuerdo a tu estado de ánimo (mucha gente, yo incluida, simplemente elegimos el color que nos apetece), de forma que a final de año todos tendremos una manta completa. Me pareció muy buena idea ya que en hacer un granny a penas se tarda ¿5? ¿10? minutos y seguro que casi todos los días se encuentra tiempo para hacerlo y es muy gratificante ver como crece poco a poco. Hay gente que está haciendo tiras en vez de cuadrados, gente que lo mezcla... At the beginning of the year I joined the Crochet Mood Blanket 2014 project that Stacey started on Instagram. I'm sure you've already heard about it but it basically consists on making a crochet square a day, choosing the color based on you mood (many people, me included, are just picking whatever color we feel like that day), so by the end of the year you will end up wit a complete blanket. I think it's a great idea, making a granny square barely takes about 5 to 10 minutes so I'm sure I will almost always find the time to make it and I love seeing it growing little by little. Some people are making stripes instead of squares, others mix both... I you search for the tag #crochetmoodblanket2014 on Instagram you can check what everybody is making.
He decidido hacer algunos cuadrados diferentes a lo largo del año en determinadas fechas y romper la uniformidad de la manta.
I've decided to some days add a different square throughout the year in order to make the blanket a bit less homogenous.
Después de quitar la guirnalda de Navidad la estantería se veía tremendamente triste y vacía, y como no era cosa de poner la de otoño de nuevo tuve que ponerme a hacer una que me sirviera en cualquier temporada (aunque no descarto la posibilidad de hacer alguna temática para primavera o verano).
Opté por unos banderines sencillos y en colores lisos formando una especie de arcoiris, la verdad es que me gusta mucho el resultado y le da un toque muy alegre.
After taking off the Christmas garland my shelf felt really sad and empty and since I couldn't just put the Autumn one back I had to make a new one that was adequate all year long (although I might make a Spring or Summer themed one at some point).
I decided to make a simple bunting in solid colors, arranged in a kind of rainbow. I really like how it came out, it makes me happy to look at it.
El mes pasado acabé los cuadraditos para la manta que estoy haciendo a medias con mi mejor amiga. Estamos haciendo una manta para cada una pero entre las dos, es decir: yo hago la mitad de los cuadrados de cada (haciendo dos cuadrados de cada combinación de colores) y ella hace lo mismo. Cuando nos veamos de nuevo (vivimos lejos :( ) nos intercambiaremos los cuadraditos y los uniremos. Al final cada una tendrá una manta hecha entre las dos. No sé explicarlo muy bien así por escrito, espero que pilléis la idea más o menos.
Last month I finished making the squares for the blanket I'm doing along with my best friend. We are making two blankets together (one for each of us): I make half the squares for both of us (two of each color combination) and so does she but with a different pattern. It's not easy to explain in writing, I hope you'll manage to get the idea. We are using the same yarn, so now I have all these grannies (x2) and as soon as we meet again (we live apart :( ) we can exchange our squares and begin to join them. In the end we'll have similar blankets made by both of us.
En otro orden de cosas, durante este invierno me he hecho unos calienta-muñecas (?) y un gorrito. La idea era que el gorro fuera gris entero pero se me acabó la lana así que lo terminé con colores, me gusta el resultado aunque creo que parece un poco más surfero de lo que era mi intención.
This winter I made my self a pair of wrist warmers and a beanie. The beanie was intended to be completely gray but I run out of that yarn and finished it with colors, I actually really like it although it came out a bit more surfer style that I intended to.
También adapté esta funda que le había hecho a mi iPhone 4 para mi iPhone 5 añadiéndole unas filas más. Estoy encantada porque me gusta mucho esa funda y me daba pena no seguir usándola. El patrón es de éste libro.
I also upgraded this iPhone 4 pouch I had made into an iPhone 5 one by adding a few more rows. I'm really glad I did because I love this pouch and I didn't want to stop using it. I got the pattern from this book.
Vamos acabando, no os preocupéis. Marta de Bluü ha abierto una tienda online y en cuanto vi esta bolsa tan mona no pude resistirme, para casa que se vino.
We're getting there, don't worry. Marta from Bluü has opened an online shop and as soon as I saw this cute bag I had to order it (it says: This bag belongs to a crocheter).
Por último, como tres mantas a la vez no eran suficientes, una cuarta con unos ovillos de bamboo que pedí por eBay y que son súper suaves.
Lastly, and because three blankets at the same time wasn't enough, here's a fourth one I'm making with some bamboo yarn I ordered on eBay and which turned out to be super soft.
